What's So Amazing About Grace? |
|
Monday, 06 June 2011 11:54 |

As we come to the end of our time studying Philip Yancy's wonderful book, we can all certainly say that we've enjoyed a long and intense focus on just how amazing God's grace is! Thankyou to all those small group leaders who have hosted groups for the past couple of terms. Your efforts are very much appreciated!
If you have enjoyed being a part of this congregation wide process and have any feedback on how you'd like to see it happen again, John Nelder would love to hear from you. He is currently seeking ideas and feedback as he begins the process of planning what we will do next year in term three. You can email him at

Thank you John for all your work in making this happen, and thank you to all of you who have been involved and made the most of this opportunity of grace. And of course, our final thanks must go to our amazing God, who has every reason to give up on us, but chooses to pour his grace on us instead. His grace certainly is 'amazing'!

Come along each Sunday to learn more from the team who visited Madargachh in September. Each week they will be sharing a story, video or image of particualry important events that occurred during their trip. Thankyou to the team for these snippets - they are fantastic!
Stay tuned as they prepare an event of epic proportions that will happen early next year.

In Partnership with ALWS, Good News Lutheran Community is on a journey of partnership with the Madargachh Village in Eastern Nepal. This partnership gives us the opportunity to develop deep, meaningful and long lasting links with this community on the other side of the world. Through this link, we will be able to learn more about ourselves and our fellow human beings and explore Jesus' call to truly love others as we love ourselves. We are assisting them with projects that they undertake to improve their quality of life, and through ongoing dialogue, we will have the chance to build friendships, refocus our priorities and appreciate our lives in a whole new light.
We are close to raising the funds required for them to undertake the projects they identified as being crucial to them moving out of poverty. That is a fantastic effort and every Good Newser should be proud of our acheivement!
We work with expectation to see what God has planned for our two communities as we continue on this road together!

In the lead up to Christmas, we need your help in putting together Christmas Hampers for local families in need!
As a comunity, we have many opportunities to meet the needs of our local community. Through links with St Vinncent de Paul, the Scripture Union chaplains in our local Schools, and other churches, an opportunity exists to help support families in need through the prevision of non perishable food stuffs. We are encouraging members of the congregation to become involved and to contribute to this worthy cause. Please look out for the empty box on your way into church, or alternately please drop items off to the church office.
What can we put in the hampers? *No junk food *6 months to go before expiry *Commercially packaged & sealed Rice Dry Pasta Pasta Sauces Dry Beans Long life/Powdered Milk Crisp Bread / Crackers Cereals, Oats, etc (smaller 400g packs rather than jumbo packs) Dried fruit Muesli Bars Peanut Butter, Jam, etc Canned fish or meat Canned Soups, Stews, etc Canned Spaghetti or Pasta Canned Vegetables, Beans, etc |
